Emma's Wedding Diary: Balloons!

I've been doing my research using my Wedding Organizer e-book and it seems that balloons may be a great option for decorating the reception venue. It's a little bit different from flowers (which will be in the church), and they automatically make me think of parties so hopefully they'll get everyone in the mood!

Balloons for weddings have come a long way since I was a kid so I was surprised by the amount of choice that's out there. The best companies have wide ranges of colours and finishes so they can match wedding colour schemes perfectly. They can do table centrepieces (they make the strings long so you can see across the table!), even giant champagne bottles with tiny bubble balloons inside or big structures such as arches to cover a plain wall.

I'm going to look into their gift balloons too – a balloon in a box is less likely to wilt than a bouquet and will survive the journeys home better too.

I might look into having lots of balloons released as we leave the church – none of my friends have done that! But I must make sure that it's done by a company that specialises in biodegradable balloons otherwise something lovely could turn into a mini environmental disaster. Hmm, perhaps we could even do something like those charity events where you have a ticket attached, telling whoever finds that balloon about our wedding! I'll ask Joe what he thinks.

Many companies have packages to choose from, I'll ask to look at their portfolios to get some ideas. And I need to get a written contract detailing whatever we go for – must remember the important things in the midst of the fun and exciting bits too!
