Emma's Wedding Diary: Wedding Organisers

I am stressed out! I have a pile of bits of paper on which I've scribbled numbers, quotes, ideas and I feel overwhelmed by it all. If it wasn't for my Wedding Organizer e-book I don't think I could have got this far! There is so much to think about and try to remember, I'm worried I'll forget something.

Have just got off the phone from Mum. She suggested that I look at hiring a professional wedding organiser. Apparently her friend's daughter had one and they were worth their weight in gold. My biggest worry is that they would just come in and take over completely but apparently a good one would never do that. There are several advertised in my Wedding Organizer book, so I'll give them a call.

Professional wedding organisers – worth their weight in gold!

Well, an hour later and I feel much better already! I spoke to a wedding planner and she was very reassuring and sounded so professional. She told me that people hire her for all sorts of reasons – people don't have much time these days and those who have jobs that involve a lot of travel find it even harder to get everything sorted for their big day. She's even organised weddings taking place abroad. It turns out I don't have to hire her to arrange the whole thing if I don't want to, she said sometimes she just spends a bit of time early in the process helping people get organised and on track and then leaves them to it.

Well connected in weddings

One thing that really appeals is that she already has lots of contacts with all kinds of suppliers, and phoning someone up to arrange catering for over a hundred people just won't stress her out like it does for me. She said that she can work within whichever budget we choose to set, both for the whole wedding and for her services too – she can help a little bit if the pennies won't stretch to her arranging the whole event. Saying that, I really like the thought of giving someone my wish list and leaving them to do all of the fiddly bits. Then we can just get excited about the day. I'm sure Joe would like to see less phone numbers and reminders stuck to the fridge!
