Emma's Wedding Diary: After the Wedding
There are lots of loose ends that need to be taken care of after the reception is over, so I thought I'd make a list so I don't forget anything ....
All of the hired suits need to be collected, checked and returned to the suppliers.
The disposable cameras on all of the tables need to be collected and kept in a safe place until we get back from the honeymoon. If Mum does that she might get them developed whilst we're away.
Our wedding presents will need to be collected from the display table and kept safe.
My wedding dress needs to be sent off to be cleaned as soon as possible, so I'll get that arranged to be collected from Katie who said she'll take it home for me.
Wedding cake needs to be sent to people who couldn't come on the day.
Mum will want to send details to the local papers so I'll remind her about that too.
Katie said she'll keep an eye on the house and water the plants. I must tell her about the tradition of the chief bridesmaid greeting the newlyweds upon their return home with a loaf of bead and some salt. I like the sound of that!
Remember to draw up a will.
Get Joe to practise carrying me! According to tradition, if the groom carries the bride over the threshold they are rewarded with good fortune. I don't want Joe to be rewarded with a bad back so I'd better go swimming.
