Emma's Wedding Diary: Wedding Videographers

Late night last night, went to Sarah's to see their wedding video and I'm a convert! Joe and I talked about this a couple of weeks ago and I was dead against it. I was so worried that it would be really cheesy, that I would look awful and that it would be just too embarrassing. But seeing Sarah's wedding video has really made me reconsider.

Sarah says that she is so glad they went ahead because they got to see so much in the wedding video that they couldn't possibly have seen on the day. The videographer was great and they were unaware he was there. He edited it all very tastefully, no embarrassing events or viewpoints included and he made Sarah and Ian look so fabulous. Ian said that he's glad they have such a beautiful record of the day to show their children in years to come (so they are planning to have a family!) as a wedding video conveys a lot more of the atmosphere than just the photos alone can.

They had lots of good advice for us when looking for a wedding videographer - the one they used is booked on our day unfortunately. Obviously, any wedding videographers recommended by other couples are worth contacting, and we also need to make sure that we see examples of what they've done in the past to see if their technique matches our taste. I guess when we start contacting them we'll get a feel for the people in the company and how professional they are. If they are friendly, have demo material and send it promptly then that's a good start, just like any other type of wedding supplier I suppose.

Ian said he always asked how long they'd been in the wedding videography business as apparently the industry has a fast turn over of people; finding out how long they had been trading shows their commitment to the business. It also makes sure that the videographer is experienced too. Now I definitely think we need to book dance lessons for certain if that's going to be filmed!
