The wedding photos will last for the rest of your lives, long after the memories have faded, so it's natural to want to look your best. Here are a few tips to make you look fabulous in the wedding photo album for years to come.

Think about how you are standing

Look at the photos of celebrities on the red carpet and at press events. They never stand front on to the camera, they always stand at a slight angle, then twist slightly to smile at the camera, with their chin very slightly in the air.

This makes them look ten pounds lighter and avoids the dreaded double-chin look. Have a practice in front of the mirror and see the difference it can make – and perfect the positioning so it looks natural when you strike the pose!

Touch up the make-up and hair

The photos may start an hour or two into the day, so take a minute with your bridesmaids to keep that shiny face look at bay with a quick powder of your nose and a touch up of the lipstick.

Ask them to check for any wayward strands of hair whilst you're at it.

Keep the wedding dress smoothed out

If you're wearing a grand wedding dress, it's likely to get a little crinkled as you change position, and the train may not behave so well either. Ask your bridesmaids to be on hand to straighten out your dress and keep the train pristine as it will be impossible for you to see if it's crumpled.

Watch out for the wedding photo bomb!

Keep an eye on who and what is in the background. Of course, a good wedding photographer will frame your shots to have the best backgrounds as possible, but it won't hurt to instruct your ushers to keep people from walking past.

Don't believe me when I say this is important? Check out these fantastic wedding bombs on the Huffington Post website. But I warn you, don't drink a cup of tea whilst looking at them like I did!
